Esports is a global phenomenon that’s growing faster than ever and we at MVP are excited to be a part of it!
The esports industry has seen unprecedented growth in recent years, thanks to the advent of better connectivity, smarter technology, and mobile phone usage, among many other factors. For the gaming community, the growth of esports has meant the birth of many opportunities, not to mention ways to connect and entertain. Filipinos are no stranger to this as the Philippine gaming industry has inspired over 43M gamers, and has seen an average of 12.9% in yearly growth. Aside from being known for its smartphone use, the country also hosts tournaments and events organized by various institutions, all of which continue to contribute to the acceleration of esports as a national phenomenon.
The growth of Web3 has also brought many exciting things into the fold for esports. Gamers and the bigger gaming community are seeing new ways to engage, incentivize and earn, what with the intersection of finance and gaming in Web3. Esports in Web3 has been growing in popularity mainly because of the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) component and its play-to-earn landscape, garnering the attention of casual gamers, pro gamers, and even neophytes who want to make the most out of gaming.
The biggest challenge that gaming communities are facing today is the need to keep up with the rapidly growing space. The industry is home to competitive players, professional leagues, guilds, as well as mass spectatorship and sponsorship. Recognizing this potential for the gaming community, MVP has since evolved from managing a scholarship program into a Web3 eSports company with a focus on nurturing the talents of professional gamers and enthusiasts. We’re creating the best of both worlds for aspiring professional gamers and investors alike by becoming an incubator for Web3 eSports talents. Our mission is to be the best partner for eSports player development by cultivating a supportive yet competitive community, and honing passionate gamers into high-caliber players.
With partnerships across finance, tech, media, and Web3, MVP is all set towards providing opportunities for the gaming community and, ultimately, growing the Philippine Web3 esports scene. It is through these partnerships and the caliber of our Axie Infinity Pro team that the MVP was able to compete in AxieCon, the world’s biggest Axie Infinity tournament held in Barcelona. Kudos to our eSports team who competed in the said event, namely CaraCute, Yajplays, R3IGN, Gonito, and most especially to ThunderStruck who achieved 2nd place in the Axie Classic World Finals. They were able to bring home a combined prize pool of $55,864.05 (P3,196,540).
